Here at Valcato Internet we've been using AWS for over a decade, to power our homepage and billing system, to support our DNS services and to host our regular client data backups.
We love the power, reliability and flexibility of AWS, but even in 2020, cloud computing is beyond the reach of many end-users, who want to harness the power of the technology without the hassle of provisioning resources, maintaining software and handling updates. That's when our team began to experiment with user-friendly control panels such as Plesk and cPanel to present a familiar front-end to a very different service.
Instead of traditional servers, WP Cloud uses EC2 Instances (similar to VPS) which are instantly scalable and easily replicated across multiple datacentres. DNS resolution is handled by Amazon's Route 53 service which is infinitely scalable and fault-tolerant, and MySQL databases are powered by separate RDS instances. Finally, all plans offer regular free backups to S3 - fault-tolerant, highly available cloud storage which is scalable to fit your needs.
For 18 years, service has always been at the heart of everything we do. Our small, passionate team love all things tech, and love even more to find simple solutions to problems facing bloggers, designers and small business owners.
Our Shared Hosting service has won countless awards over the years for its ease of use, reliability and flexibility, and our WP Cloud product aims to stay true to these values, whilst enabling us to go even further by using the power of the cloud to offer specialised and niche hosting environments, beginning with our WordPress platform.
This is just the beginning. We've decided to begin with WordPress because it's what the vast majority of our clients requested in our annual survey, but we're already drawing up plans for specialist cloud-based hosting services for Magento, WooCommerce, Joomla and more - watch this space!
